Kongresy CHISA pořádá Česká společnost chemického inženýrství v úzké spolupráci s Ústavem chemických procesů Akademie věd ČR a za podpory České inženýrské akademie a Vysoké školy chemicko-technologické v Praze.
The CHISA Congresses are among the most important in chemical engineering events all over the world. Their tradition is quite long: the series of triennial Congresses CHISA started in 1962 in Brno, Czech Republic, then continued in Mariánské Lázně, and since 1972 were held only in Prague. In 1998 their periodicity was changed to biennial events. Despite the fact that the majority of world-renowned scientific conferences are held in different places (and thus offer different tourist attractions), the interest in CHISA Congresses which have been held – for decades in the same place – is not decreasing. In addition to the tradition, well-structured program and high-quality organisation, there is admittedly the important “added value” of Prague's genius loci.
The word CHISA comes from the Czech acronym for “Chemical Engineering, Chemical Equipment Design and Automation”. The national CHISA conferences are held regularly between Congresses – the first national conference CHISA was held in 1956, more than 60 years ago. The CHISA Congresses are organised by the Czech Society of Chemical Engineering in close cooperation with the Institute of Chemical Processes Fundamentals (Academy of Sciences) and with the support of the Czech Academy of Engineering, and University of Chemical Technology Prague. More than 5000 scientists from all over the world participated in these Congresses.
Every even year a large international Congress CHISA is taking place in Prague, every odd year a national conference is held in different places of the Czech Republic, e.g. in Srní, Seč, etc.
